Programs and Payment Options


 


Medicaid Programs
Personal Care Services - Allows 60 hours of care per month (approximately 2.5 hours per day). The potential patient must have 2 activities of daily living (ADL) deficits such as assist with bathing or dressing, assistance with ambulation and/or toileting, bowel or bladder incontinence or assistance with eating. The care must be authorized by the patients Primary Care Physician.

Personal Care Plus - Allows 80 hours of care per month (approximately 3.5 hours per day). The potential patient must have 4 activities of daily living (ADL) deficits or require 3 Activities of Daily Living deficits and have a medical or cognitive impairment that requires extended time to perform needed in home aide tasks. In addition to having a primary care physician authorization the North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance must authorize as well.

Community Alternative Programs (CAP) - These programs are administered locally by your County Department of Social Services. To inquire about these programs call your DSS in Burnke County at 828-439-2000, Caldwell County at 828-426-8200, Catawba County at 828-695-5600 and McDowell County at 828-652-3355.

CAP-DA: Disabled Adults
CAP-C: Children
CAP-MR/DD: Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities
CAP-Aids



Private Duty
CVMS charges $13.50 per hour and there is no charge for nursing assessments and supervisory visits. CVMS aides perform a variety of tasks such as:

Home Management Tasks, which include bathroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the kitchen, making the bed, vacuuming, dishes and garbage disposal.

Personal Care Tasks include taking blood pressures and other vital signs, assistance with bathing, grooming and dressing, assistance with ambulation and assistance with toileting.

Other types of service include meal preparation and essential shopping, bill paying and checking the mail.

When discussing insurance plans ensure your plan covers non-skilled in home care to receive these types of services. Many plans will pay for home health care but that is a different type of service. Home Health Care is considered skilled nursing care and no home management will be done.

 

 

The Home and Community Care Block Grant: (HCCBG
This program is offered by The Older Americans Act and administered locally by the Western Piedmant Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging (WPCOGAAA). Catawba Valley Medical Services has been awarded this grant for the past 4 years. These in-home aide services are available to Seniors who are age 60 and above.

In-Home Aide Level 2 - Offers assistance to individuals who need assistance with at least one activity of daily living.

In-Home Aide Level 3 - Offers assistance for individuals needing two or more activities of daily living.

The HCCBG is able to offer up to 10 hours per week of care per patient. Since this is a grant, funds are limited and there is a waiting list for those who qualify. The waiting list is based upon patient needs and situation.
